The American philosopher William James is quoted saying about aging, “It is well for the world that in most of us, by the age of thirty, the character has been set like plaster, and will never soften again.”
This could be said about the condition of our skin as we get age. It’s seems it will never soften again, like in our youth. Men and women alike suffer over forehead lines, smiles lines and deep crease wrinkles that seem to only grow more profound with age. Aging manifests itself on the areas of the skin that are most often exposed to the harmful UV rays of the sun including the hands, forearms and the face.
Medical procedures such as face-lifts, chemical peels and dermabrasion have a heavy cost -vs- benefit consideration. For many the physical pain and expense of going under the knife is not a realistic option. This leaves treating the aging process exclusively through the use of skin care products.
Modern chemistry has produced formulas for skin care products that are well documented to produce outstanding results. Ingredients like Hyaluronic Acid, Argireline, CoQ10, Squaline, and DMAE lead the current field of the most in demand skin care product formulations.
The selection of skin care products range from Dermatologist prescribed creams to inexpensive drug store skin care formulations. Selecting the proper skin care regimen is crucial for maintaining youthful looking skin and ensuring your hard earned dollars are being spent of effective solutions for your particular skin care needs.
The most common needs are hydration producing skin care products, to fight drying skin; An anti-wrinkle formula to reduce the visible signs of wrinkles around the eyes and mouth; and sun protection to protect your face from further UV damage.
Replenishing Collagen
Dry, loose skin is a result from collagen depletion. Collagen supports the dermis, the lower layer of the skin. The dermis supports several structural areas of the body including blood vessels, nerves, and various appendages that are part of of the dermis. Using a skin care product that offers ingredient that provide collagen support, the dermis can regain some of what was lost to age and environmental effects.
The most notable ingredient that support collagen is Hyaluronic Acid. This naturally occurring substance is already naturally present in body tissues, and is especially concentrated in connective tissues. Hyaluronic acid play a crucial role in tissue hydration, lubrication, and cellular replenishment. It is unmatched in it’s effect to smooth, soften and decrease wrinkles. Look only for moisturizing skin care products that are principally made up of Hyaluronic Acid. Nexugen Skin Defense is an excellent example of a premium moisturizer that features Hyaluronic Acid as it’s primary ingredient.
Skin care products for eye wrinkles
aging and exposure to the sun can increase and deepen the lines around the eyes that can only be corrected through cosmetic surgery or helped with a high-quality anti-wrinkle skin care product. One of the most recent and promising developments in the natural skin care product market is Argireline (Acetyl Hexapeptide-3). Agireline is produced by Lipotec, a Spanish lab, and is one of the hottest new ingredients used in high-end skin care products.
Agireline is applied topically over fine lines and wrinkles where it has a Botox® like effect of relaxing the muscle tissue below the epidermis enough to smooth small and medium depth facial wrinkles. Argireline is very effective in the areas around the eyes and mouth, but not something you would want to have get in your eyes. Studies showed up a to 30% reduction is wrinkle size after only 30 days of use. Nexugen Anti-Wrinkle Concentrate is an excellent Argireline base serum that is of the highest quality yet sells for a fraction of what similar big brand products cost.
DMAE is an interesting skin care product ingredient that is getting quite a bit of notice lately. DMAE tightens the top layer of the skin thereby reducing the effects of fine lines and wrinkles.
Sun Protection
The primary rule that anyone involved in skin care from Dermatologist, so Medi-Spa technicians, do your local facialist is stay out of the sun. Or at least keep the sun from getting direct exposure to your skin. This can be done with various skin care products that offer sun protection, commonly known as SPF. It’s highly recommended to even put an SPF product on under make-up for every day use. Skin care products that provide sun protection must be used year around. The sun’s rays are as dangerous in the dead of winter as they are during the glorious days of summer at the beach. Try to select a sun protection cream with at least an SPF rating of 15-30. If you plan to be in bright sunlight or around water consider a waterproof 50 SPF to ensure you time in the sun does not age you past your years.
Ending up like plaster might not be realistic, but selecting the right skin care products is crucial to ensuring you skin is being provided with the best ingredients to keep it young looking and healthy for many years to come.

I’ve tried hyaluronic acid products and found them to be quite effective. After reading this article I want to try Argireline, it sounds very promising.
